A Man Who Sleeps Well

How a man sleeps tells you more about his heart than he'd ever admit. Some lie awake replaying conversations they wish they could take back. Others stare at the ceiling worrying about finances, family, work, or the future. We live in a world full of pressure — and most men are carrying burdens they were never meant to carry alone.

Chris Muiña uses Proverbs 3 to point toward the source of a rest that doesn't depend on circumstances. The strongest pillow you'll ever lay your head on is a clear conscience before God. Sweet sleep isn't just the reward of a tiring day — it's the fruit of a heart that trusts God and a life lived in alignment with His wisdom.

The world says security comes from a bigger savings account, a stronger retirement, or having everything under control. God says real security comes from walking with Him. A man who lives with integrity doesn't have to remember which lie he told. A husband who honors his wife has nothing to hide. God's wisdom gives a man confidence without arrogance and stability without perfect circumstances — because his hope rests on a faithful God, not a flawless life.

Verse of the Day: Proverbs 3:21–24

Your Daily Man-Up Challenge

Tonight, do something different. Before bed, spend five minutes with God and ask three questions: Is there anything I need to confess? Anyone I need to forgive? Any burden I've been carrying instead of trusting God with it? Pray over those things and surrender them. Don't carry into tomorrow what God has invited you to leave at His feet today.

Gentlemen, every day is a battle. A battle for your faith, your family, and your purpose. The men who stand strong don't prepare when the battle arrives, they prepare before it begins. Welcome to the Men's Morning Devotional. Let's get into God's word. It's time to man up.

Good morning, gentlemen. I'm Chris Muinya, and it's time for another man up moment, with today's devotional being about a man who sleeps well. Proverbs chapter 3, verses 21 through 24 says, My son, do not lose sight of these. Keep sound wisdom and discretion, and they will be life for your soul and a dormant for your neck. Then you will walk on your way securely, and your foot will not stumble. If you lie down, you will not be afraid. When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have you ever noticed that one of the greatest indicators of what's happening in a man's heart is how he sleeps? Some men lie awake, replaying conversations they wished they could take back. Others worry about finances, family, work, or the future. Some are exhausted physically. We live in a world that is full of pressure, and many men carry burdens they were never meant to carry alone. Solomon points us to the source of lasting confidence, sound wisdom, and discretion. He says, Do not lose sight of these. In other words, don't let God's wisdom drift into the background while the noise of the world takes center stage. As men, we're constantly making decisions. Every day we'll decide how we will respond to conflict, lead our families, manage our finances, handle temptation, and treat the people around us. Those decisions either strengthen the foundation of our lives or slowly weaken it. God's wisdom does something remarkable. It gives us confidence without producing arrogance. Notice the progression in this verse. First, wisdom becomes life for your soul. It doesn't just improve the circumstance, it transforms the inside of you. A man whose soul is anchored in God doesn't have to be controlled by fear or panic. Then Solomon says, you'll walk securely. That doesn't mean life will be free from obstacle, it means you'll have stability because you're walking according to God's truth instead of your own impulses. And finally he says, When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. That's a powerful picture. Sweet sleep isn't simply the result of being tired, it's the result of having a clear conscience and a heart that trusts God. A man who lives with integrity doesn't have to remember which lie he told. A husband who honors his wife doesn't have to hide secret conversations. A businessman who deals honestly doesn't fear what's going to be uncovered. A father who points his children towards Christ may still have challenges, but he rests knowing he's being faithful. Peace comes from living in alignment with God's wisdom. That doesn't mean life is perfect. It means your confidence isn't based on perfect circumstances. It's based on a faithful God. The world says security comes from a bigger savings account, a stronger retirement, or having everything under control. God says real security comes from walking with Him. So, men, the strongest pillow you'll ever lay your head on is on a clear conscience before God. So here's your man up challenge. Usually our man up challenges are for the morning, but being that today we're talking about sleep, let's try something different. Before you go to bed tonight, spend five minutes with God. Ask yourself three questions. Is there anything I need to confess? Is there anyone I need to forgive? And is there any burden I've been carrying instead of trusting God with it? Then pray specifically over those things and surrender them to the Lord. Don't carry into tomorrow what God has invited you to leave at his feet today. A real man doesn't ignore his burdens, he brings them to the one who's strong enough to carry them. So let's pray. Father, thank you for offering us wisdom that brings peace and stability. Too often we carry worries, guilt, and fear that keep us restless. Help us keep our eyes fixed on your truth and our hearts surrendered to your will. Give us the courage to live with integrity, humility, to confess when we've sinned, and the faith to trust you with every burden we carry. May our lives be marked by confidence that comes from walking closely with you, and may our rest each night remind us that you are watching over us. Make us men who live wisely, walk securely, and sleep peacefully, because our hope is in you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
