Better Than Gold

The world measures a man's wealth by what he owns - but is he truly wealthy? We explore Proverbs 8 to discover the greatest treasure you can seek—and how it transforms every decision and relationship in your life.

Cold hard cash. Big bucks. Moolah. That's what men are trained to chase — the raise, the portfolio, the security that supposedly fixes everything. However, many men reach the top of that climb and still feel the burden they were sure money would lift.

In today's Man Up Moment, Danny Burgos redefines what real wealth looks like, digging into why the wisdom that comes from God outvalues every earthly treasure, and why the men chasing possessions alone are quietly investing in the wrong things. Proverbs 8 names something worth more than rubies, more than gold, more than anything you can lock in a safe, and it's the one thing that actually delivers what wealth only promises.

If you've ever felt like you're winning on paper but losing where it counts, this one's for you.

Gentlemen, every day is a battle. A battle for your faith, your family, and your purpose. The men who stand strong don't prepare when the battle arrives. They prepare before it begins. Welcome to the men's morning devotional. Let's get into God's word. It's time to man up.

Welcome back. I'm Danny Burgos. We're right in the middle of our weekly study on wisdom. Yesterday we talked about how to guard God's word like a precious treasure. And today we're defining what real wealth looks like. Here's your man up moment for the day. The greatest treasures in this life cannot be locked in a safe or bud with gold. Proverbs chapter 8, verse 11 says, For wisdom is more precious than rubies. If someone offered you a chest full of rubies, gold and money, most of us would probably take it without thinking twice. It sounds like the kind of treasure that could change your life forever. But Proverbs 8 gives us a surprising perspective. God says that wisdom is worth far more than any treasure we could ever find. As valuable as money is, it can never compare to the wisdom that comes from God. Money has its place. In fact, God called us to be good stewards of what He gives us. It can provide for our families, meet our needs, and even bless others. But there are things money can't simply buy. It can't give you peace when you are carrying a heavy burden. It can't restore a broken relationship. It can't replace a clear conscience or bring you closer to God. That's why wisdom is so valuable. Wisdom comes from God and helps us make the right choices every day. It teaches us when to speak and when to stay quiet. It helps us love our families well, make wise decisions at work, and honor God in the way we live. The more we seek God's wisdom, the more we begin to see life through his eyes. We stop chasing things that don't last and start investing in the things that truly matter. We discover that peace, love, character, and purpose are worth far more than anything money can buy. So today, don't just ask God to bless you with more possessions, ask him to fill you with his wisdom. Because when you have God's wisdom, you have something far more valuable than any earthly treasure. Here's your man up challenge. Before you make any decision today, stop and pray. Ask God to give you his wisdom first. Let's pray. God, you're worth more than all the gold in the world. Please give us your wisdom today so we can see what truly matters. Show us what is really valuable and show us how to seek your heart every single day so we can receive your wisdom and be wiser as we walk with you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
