Don't Just Hear It - Live it

In this Man Up Moment, host Chris Muiña gets underneath one of the quiet traps that catches faithful men: the gap between knowing God's Word and living it. Drawing from Proverbs 3, he uncovers why God was never after a head full of Bible facts — He's after a heart that's been reshaped. And here's the uncomfortable part: the longer you've walked with God, the easier it becomes to lean on your own understanding instead of His.
Because real strength isn't found in knowing more — it's found in obeying what you already know. Every small decision to choose integrity over shortcuts, patience over anger, prayer over panic, and forgiveness over bitterness is you storing God's Word in your heart, where it slowly shapes the man you're becoming. Your family doesn't need a perfect man. They need one whose heart is anchored in God's truth — because when your heart is right, your life follows.

Gentlemen, every day is a battle. A battle for your faith, your family, and your purpose. The men who stand strong don't prepare when the battle arrives. They prepare before it begins. Welcome to the men's morning devotional. Let's get into God's word. It's time to man up.
SPEAKER_01Good morning, gentlemen. I'm Chris Muinya, and it's time for another man up moment. With today's subject being about don't just hear it, but live it. I'm going to be focusing in on Proverbs chapter 3, verses 1 through 2, and it says, My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life, and peace they will add to you. Now there's a big difference between knowing God's word and living God's Word. Most men have heard plenty of sermons. We've read verses, listened to podcasts, attended church, and can probably quote a handful of scripture. But Solomon isn't telling his son simply to remember information, he's telling him to let God's truth settle into his heart until it changes the way he lives. Now, being that I was raised in the church and came to know Jesus at a young age, this verse speaks to me. And I believe David wanted his son Solomon to get this concept in the same way. Notice he says, Do not forget my teachings, but let your heart keep my commandments. The heart is where our decisions are made. It's where our priorities, desires, and character are formed. God's goal isn't just to fill our heads with Bible knowledge, he wants his truth to shape who we become. As men, we often pride ourselves on being capable. We want to solve problems, provide for our families, and make good decisions. But if those decisions aren't rooted in God's wisdom, we'll eventually find ourselves relying on our own understanding instead of his. The longer we are Christians, the closer we can get to relying on our own understanding instead of God's. The promise attached to this verse is powerful. God isn't saying life will be easy, He's saying that obedience produces something every man is looking for, and that's peace. The world offers temporary relief, more money, another promotion, another hobby, another purchase. But none of these can give the peace that comes from walking in step with God. The kind of peace that isn't dictated by circumstances. Think about the men you admire most. Chances are it's not because they had the biggest house or the highest paying job. It's because they were steady, faithful, trustworthy, calm under pressure. Their lives reflected the wisdom of God. That kind of man doesn't happen by accident. He becomes that man through daily obedience. Every small decision matters. When you choose integrity instead of cutting corners, when you choose patience over anger, when you choose prayer before panic, when you choose forgiveness instead of bitterness. You're storing God's word in your heart, and over time it shapes the man you're becoming. Gentlemen, your family doesn't need a perfect man. Your wife, your children, your friends, your coworkers need a man whose heart is anchored in God's truth, because when your heart is right, your life follows. So here's your man up challenge. Before your day ends, ask yourself one question. Is there one area of my life where I know what God says, but I haven't been living it? Now don't overcomplicate it. Identify one specific area. Could be your attitude, your language, your marriage, your parenting, your work ethic, your integrity, or maybe your time with God. Then take one concrete step of obedience. Read the verse again before bed and ask God to move his word from your head into your heart. Real strength isn't found in knowing more, it's found in obeying what you already know. So let's pray. Father, thank you for giving us your word to guide our lives. Help us not to be men who simply hear your truth, but men who live it. Shape our hearts so that our decisions reflect your wisdom. Give us the courage to obey you, even when it's difficult, and let our lives be marked by the peace that only you can give. Make us faithful husbands, fathers, friends, and leaders who honor you in every area of life. In Jesus' name, amen.
SPEAKER_00All right, gentlemen, you've heard God's word. Now go live it. Lead well, stand strong, honor God in everything you do. Share this devotional with another brother. Remember, every day is another opportunity to man up.
