Good morning, gentlemen. Christian Calatayud back with you for another man up moment. Today we're continuing Proverbs chapter 5, and the devotional is called Rejoice in Her. Proverbs 5, 18 says, May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. You see, this verse, it's a blessing. It's not a rule. We see that Solomon has been spending 17 verses warning his son, and now he stops and he blesses him. May your fountain be blessed. May you rejoice. And I want us to notice that word today. Rejoice. Not tolerate, not endure, not stay faithful through gritted teeth, but men, rejoice. You see, a lot of us, we treat faithfulness like a fence. Something that keeps us in, something that keeps us hemmed up, something that keeps us limited. But Solomon treats it like a fountain. Something that's meant to overflow with joy if we would actually delight in what God gave us. And the wife of your youth is a phrase that it's worth sitting with and it's worth camping out on for a little bit. Because time, it changes a marriage. You see, the woman you might have married isn't frozen on the wedding day, and neither are you. But King Solomon, he isn't blessing a memory. He's blessing an ongoing choice to keep on rejoicing in that same covenant. Decade after decade, year after year, month after month, season after season. You see, the men before us, they understood that marriage was something to be highly honored, not a lesser calling for those who couldn't live another way. No, it was a covenant. A covenant worth defending. Because it was worth celebrating. You see, biblical wisdom, it's aimed at a good life. Not a shallow life, not an easy life, but a genuinely good one. And there is no wisdom teaching in Proverbs about love that isn't aimed at a deep, lasting joy inside the covenant that God has designed. You see, a man who only defends his marriage, but never delights in it, is still missing what Solomon is after here. So here's our man up challenge. Today, don't just avoid something for your marriage. Celebrate something in it. Do one thing that says, I rejoice in you. Not just I'm faithful to you. Gentlemen, whether it's a note, a date, a real conversation, an honest compliment, whatever it is, let's go out of our way to do it today. And if you're single, I would say ask God to grow in you a heart that rejoices rather than merely endures. And in that single season, what if you asked God, Lord, let me rejoice in the season where all I have is you? Because soon it will be you and a wife. What if you rejoiced in your singleness instead of just merely enduring it? Let's pray. Father, thank you for the gift of a covenant love. Lord Jesus, would you forgive us for the times we might have treated marriage like a fence instead of a fountain? And Lord, whether we're married or single, teach us to rejoice. Not just to remain faithful, not just to endure, but to delight in the life that you have given us. Lord, bless our fountain. Lord bless our fountain all of our days. We love you, we praise you, and we thank you. In your name and in your blood we pray. Amen and amen.
