When was the last time you said, "I don't know," and meant it?
Proverbs 9:9 says even the wise can grow wiser. Luke 2:52 says even Jesus Himself grew in wisdom, as did the disciples, who spent years learning, failing, and being shaped. If Jesus modeled a life of growth, what's our excuse for getting comfortable?
A wise man never stops growing. It's easy to reach the point of "I've been doing this for years" or "Nobody needs to tell me anything," but the moment we stop being teachable, we stop growing. Wisdom is more than information. It's about becoming a better husband, father, friend, leader, and follower of Jesus. Peter didn't become a bold preacher overnight; the man who denied Jesus was shaped through a long process. Maybe you're not where you want to be yet. That's okay, but don't use it as an excuse to stay there. Keep reading God's Word, keep asking questions, and keep listening to men further down the road. Growth takes humility: the willingness to say "I don't know," "I got that wrong," or "I need help." That isn't weakness, it's maturity. Don't settle for the man you are today just because you've gotten comfortable with him.

Gentlemen, every day is a battle. A battle for your faith, your family, and your purpose. The men who stand strong don't prepare when the battle arrives. They prepare before it begins. Welcome to the men's morning devotional. Let's get into God's word. It's time to man up.
SPEAKER_01Good morning, man. Welcome to your men's morning devotional. I'm Danny Wurgos, and I've been spending the week with you. Yesterday we talked about being willing to receive correction, and today we're continuing with that idea because a wise man understands that he never reaches a point where he has nothing left to learn. Here's your manup moment. A wise man never stops growing. Proverbs chapter 9, verse 9 says, Instruct the wise and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous and they will add to their learning. I love what this verse says because it challenges the idea that wisdom means you figured everything out. Proverbs says that even the wise can become wiser, and even the righteous can keep learning. In other words, you never outgrow the need to grow. And when we look at the life of Jesus, we see something really powerful. Luke chapter 2, verse 52 says that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. Jesus was the Son of God, yet while he walked on this earth, he grew in wisdom. Think about that for a moment. If Jesus modeled a life of growth, how much more should we as men recognize that we still have room to grow? We can get to a place where we think, I already know how to do this, or I've been doing this for years, or nobody needs to tell me anything. But the moment we stop being teachable, we stop growing. And this isn't just about knowing more information. Wisdom is about becoming a better man, a better husband, a better father, a better friend, a better leader, and of course a better follower of Jesus. Look at the disciples. They spent years walking with Jesus, listening to him, watching him, asking questions, making mistakes, and learning from him. They didn't become the men God called them to be in one day. Jesus was constantly teaching them, correcting them, and preparing them. Peter didn't become Peter, the leader, overnight. The man who once denied Jesus eventually became a bold preacher of the gospel. There was a process of growth, and the same is true for us. Maybe you're not where you want to be yet, and that's okay. But don't use that as an excuse to stay where you are. Keep learning, keep asking questions, keep reading God's word, keep listening to men who are further along than you. Keep allowing God to show you areas where you need to grow. Because wisdom isn't about becoming the man who knows everything, it's about becoming the man who is always willing to learn. And there's something else we need to remember. Growth takes humility. Let me say that again. Growth takes humility. You have to be willing to admit that I don't know. I got that wrong, or I need help in this area. That's not weakness, that's maturity. Jesus showed us what it looks like to live with purpose, humility, and a willingness to grow. And if we're going to follow him, we should want the same thing. So don't settle for the man you are today simply because you've become comfortable with him. Ask God to keep shaping you. There is always another level of wisdom, another area to surrender, another lesson to learn, and another step to take. Here's your man up challenge. Ask God in a moment of surrender to give you a heart that is willing to grow. Let's pray. Father, give us a humble heart and a teachable heart. Help us recognize the areas where we still need to grow. Show us how to be more like you. Because we need you. We don't have all the answers. Sometimes we don't know the next step. So we need your guidance, Lord. We need you, Jesus. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
