The Blessing that Doesn't Break You
Are you working hard, or white-knuckling the outcome?
Monday’s proverb gave us diligent hands that produce wealth. Today’s gives us a blessing that comes with no sorrow attached. Solomon isn’t contradicting himself. Diligence is what a man does, but blessing is what only God can add. Learn how to hold both without being crushed by either.
Wisdom is never a formula we can run without God, which is why Proverbs begins with the fear of the Lord. Diligence without that fear becomes anxious striving. Diligence with it becomes faithful work resting in a bigger promise. The exhausting, joyless grasping of a man who believes everything depends on him doesn’t just wear out the body. It reveals a heart that has quietly stopped trusting God to add anything at all. A man who works hard and rests in God’s blessing carries a weight that doesn’t break him, but a man who works hard and trusts only himself eventually will.
Verse of the Day: Proverbs 10:22

Gentlemen, every day is a battle. A battle for your faith, your family, and your purple. The men who stand strong don't prepare when the battle arrives. They prepare before it begins. Welcome to the men's morning devotional. Let's get into God's word. It's time to man up.
Christian CalatayudGood morning and welcome back to the men's morning devotional. This is Christian Kaladiou closing out this week with our final man up moment in Proverbs chapter 10. We've hope you enjoyed it. You've learned something. Next week is going to be incredible as well, as my father-in-law, Pastor Steve, will be continuing our devotional in Proverbs chapter 11. But let's finish off this week strong with today's devotional that is called The Blessing That Doesn't Break You. We're going to be reading Proverbs chapter 10, verse 22 that says, The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. You know, this week we started with diligent hands that produce wealth. And now we end the week with something that sounds like it contradicts that. Blessing, producing wealth without the painful toil. You see, Solomon isn't contradicting himself. Diligence is what a man does. But blessing is what only God can add. You see, this chapter has taught us that we can never think as men that wisdom is a formula that we can operate in without God. In fact, the entire book of Proverbs shows us this. And even in the very first chapter, that it begins with the fear of the Lord. And it's important to tie these two together because diligence without that fear becomes anxious striving. But diligence with that fear, it becomes faithful work resting in a bigger promise. And let this be a warning today against the exhausting, joyless grasping of men who believe that everything depends on us. You see, that kind of toil, it doesn't just wear out the body, it reveals a heart posture that has quietly stopped trusting God to add anything at all. And the truth is, this is the balance that a lot of men miss. Work like Monday's proverb with diligent hands, but hold the outcome like today's proverb, trusting the Lord's blessing, not gripping the results with white knuckles. A man who works hard and rests in God's blessing carries a weight that doesn't break him. And a man who works hard and trusts only himself eventually will break. So here's our man up challenge. We need to look at whatever we've been striving over right now. Work, finances, a relationship outcome. Today, do the diligent work in front of you. Then consciously hand the outcome to God instead of gripping it. Say it out loud if you need to. Lord, this is yours to bless, not mine to force. Let's pray. Lord, thank you that our life doesn't depend on our grip. Forgive us, Lord. For the anxious striving that we might have mistaken for diligence. Lord Jesus, teach us to work hard with open hands, trusting your blessing to add what our effort alone could never do. Lord Jesus, give us the rest that comes from truly trusting in you. We love you, we praise you, and we thank you. In Jesus' name, amen.
