Wisdom isn't hiding — it's standing right where your life is happening, calling out. The only question is whether you're listening.
This week, Chris Muiña continues through Proverbs 8, landing on verse 3, where Solomon paints a striking picture: wisdom stands at the city gate, the place of business, leadership, and decision-making, crying aloud for all to hear. Chris pushes back on the idea that wisdom comes automatically with age or experience. You can make the same mistake for twenty years and simply become very good at making bad decisions. Wisdom has to be pursued, and God keeps placing it in front of us: in His Word, in the counsel of godly men, in correction we'd rather not hear, in consequences, and in the quiet conviction of the Holy Spirit.
Foolishness rarely screams; it whispers. You deserve this. Nobody will know. Get even. Deal with it later. Meanwhile, God's wisdom stands at the gate saying, "Choose the better way." Every decision a man makes in a day, how he responds to his wife, disciplines his kids, handles money, or acts when no one's watching, is a chance to listen or ignore. A strong man isn't the one who never needs correction; he's the one humble enough to receive it. And a godly man doesn't wait for his life to fall apart before seeking wisdom. He seeks it before the decision, before the argument, before the temptation.

Your Daily Man-Up Challenge
Before one important decision today, stop and seek wisdom first. Find a quiet place and spend ten minutes in God's Word, asking Him, "What are you trying to teach me, and where do I need to listen?" Then be still and listen. Identify one area where you've been ignoring wisdom, whether marriage, finances, parenting, work, habits, or your spiritual life, and take one step of obedience today. Don't just hear wisdom. Act on it.

SPEAKER_01Good morning, gentlemen. I'm Chris Muinya, and it's time for another Man Up Moment. This week I'm continuing through Proverbs chapter 8, with today's devotional being Wisdom is Calling. Are you listening? I encourage you to share this devotional with someone who you think will benefit from it. Now, Proverbs chapter 8, verse 3 says this Besides the gate leading into the city, at the entrance she cries aloud. Now they're speaking about wisdom. And the point is, wisdom is not hiding. That's the picture Solomon gives us in this verse. Wisdom is standing at the entrance of the city, crying out for everyone to hear. Now in biblical times, the city gate was where people gathered. It was a place of business, of leadership, of conversation, of judgment, and decision making. In other words, wisdom is standing right where life is happening. That's important for us men because we often think wisdom comes with age or experience. But simply getting older doesn't automatically make you wiser. You can make the same mistake for 20 years and just become very experienced at making bad decisions. Wisdom has to be pursued, and God is constantly putting wisdom in front of us. It's in his word, it's in his advice of godly men. It's in the correction we don't always want to hear. It's in the consequences of our decisions. It's in that quiet conviction from the Holy Spirit telling us, don't go that way. The question isn't whether wisdom is speaking, the question is whether we're listening. Think about how many decisions a man makes a day, how we respond to our wife, how we discipline our children, how we handle money, how we treat our coworkers, what we watch when nobody's around, how we respond when we're angry, what we do when we're tempted. Every one of those moments is an opportunity to either listen to wisdom or ignore it. And here's the problem foolishness usually doesn't scream, it whispers. It says, You deserve this. Nobody will know. Just say what you need to say. Get even. You can deal with it later. But God's wisdom is standing at the gate saying, Choose the better way. A strong man isn't the man who never needs correction. A strong man is humble enough to receive it. A strong man isn't the man who always has the answer. He's the one who knows where to go when he doesn't. And a godly man doesn't wait until his life is falling apart to seek wisdom, though we all have been there. He seeks it before the decision, before the argument, before the temptation, before the consequence. Because wisdom is calling. It's calling you to be a better husband, a better father, a better leader, a man of integrity, a man who keeps his word, a man who doesn't just know what is right, but actually does what is right. The question today is simple. Are you listening? So here's your man up challenge. Today, before making one important decision, stop and seek wisdom before you act. Find a quiet place and spend 10 minutes in God's Word. Ask Him specifically this God, what are you trying to teach me? And where do I need to listen? Then actually stop and be still to listen. This may take a day, okay, to just listen, just be quiet. Identify one area where you've been ignoring wisdom, maybe your marriage, your finances, your parenting, your work, your habits, your spiritual life, and take one step of obedience today. Don't just hear wisdom, act on it. Because wisdom is calling at the gate. So man up, stop, listen, and choose God's way. Let's pray. Father, thank you for continually calling us toward wisdom. Forgive us for the times we've ignored your voice because we want to do things our own way. Give us humble hearts that are willing to listen, receive correction, and change direction when necessary. Make us men who don't just hear your truth but live it. Give us the courage to choose your way even when it's hard. In Jesus' name. Amen.
