Proverbs 9 calls the fear of the Lord the beginning of wisdom, which means every man trying to figure life out on his own instinct is starting from the wrong place and wondering why he keeps getting it wrong.

Gentlemen, every day is a battle. A battle for your faith, your family, and your purpose. The men who stand strong don't prepare when the battle arrives, they prepare before it begins. Welcome to the men's morning devotional. Let's get into God's word. It's time to man up.
SPEAKER_00Welcome to the men's morning devotional. I'm Danny Urgos. And we've been walking through the book of Proverbs. It's been such a blessing. Yesterday we learned that wisdom is more valuable than rubies, and today we're looking at where we actually go to find it. As we move closer to the end of our week, as we move closer to the end of our week, we need to know the foundation of a wise life. Let's learn what it truly means to respect God. Here's your man up moment. We only begin to grow wise when we see how truly great our Creator is. Proverbs chapter 9, verse 10 says, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. When you hear the phrase the fear of the Lord, what comes to mind for many people? It sounds like God wants us to be afraid of Him. But that's not what this verse means. The fear of the Lord isn't about living in terror or hiding from God, it's about having a deep respect for who he is. It's recognizing that he is holy, powerful, and the creator of everything. It's understanding that his ways are higher than ours and that he knows what's best for our lives. When we truly see God for who he is, something changes in us. We become more willing to trust him instead of trusting ourselves. We stop thinking we have all the answers and we begin to listen to his voice. That's why Proverbs says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Let's look at that again. It's the beginning of wisdom. Before we can live wisely, we have to recognize that God knows more than we do. The truth is we've all had moments when we thought we knew the best way, only to realize later that we were wrong. That's why we need God's wisdom. He sees what we can see, he knows what's ahead, and he promises to guide those who seek him. Here's your man up challenge. Take five quiet minutes today and ask God to reveal one area of your life where you've been relying on your own wisdom instead of his. Let's pray. God, you made the whole world. I respect you and I praise your holy name. Show me everything that you've done for me. Reveal new things to me and teach me your ways so I can start this day with your wisdom. I trust in you, and I know my life is in your hands. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
